Day 4 began with sweet summer-like Charleston weather and ended in a snowstorm in the mountains near Hillsville, VA. Crazy!
Before we left the Charleston area, we visited a live oak called Angel oak. It appears to be about 300-400 years old. The oak sat quietly on a back sandy road. Majestic and peaceful.
We headed up the road and had a major Soren diaper blowout as we stopped a local's diner for sandwiches. Several hours later as we climbed into the mountains in southern VA, sleet and snow flooded down and by exit 14 we could go no farther. We found shelter at a Super 8, had a great nights sleep, sat over breakfast with a petroleum trucker and a traveler trying to get to the Charlotte airport and watched semis being towed out of the lot next door. Made it safely home by 2.30 and left the snow behind.
