My dad's favorite place is the Great Smokey Mts. This year we borrowed the Rhodes parent's rv and headed down to join the Fisher parents near Gatlinburg, TN. We spent three nights in the Smokies and one night on the way back north at Hungry Mother State Park. We hiked and sauntered, enjoyed the mountains and relaxed, had good conversation. Philip cooked. We nursed Soren who had a bad cold and even got his first real fever. After some stressful late nights and medicine, he improved rapidly.
The days were hot, the mountain streams were cool and gorgeous, the views were awe-inspiring. Really beautiful trip! Thanks to our parents who blessed us on our first camping trip with Soren.

Wednesday morning we took off from the Smokies and headed north through Mt Rogers park, across 81 and into this state park called Hungry Mother (sad story). We found a lovely, quiet camp ground near hiking trails and a great lake. We were hungry ourselves so we started making sandwiches. Soren, who is in the pouncing stage, grabbed both slices of mayo bread and this is what we had...
