Another great day in Charleston: Soren does not like sleeping here very well, so we were up early, took a walk around the block before breakfast. Ate again with fun hostel young people. Drank really good coffee at the hostel. Walked to Charleston Aquarium. Cool lemurs, albino alligator and other fish life. Walked awhile in the hot afternoon and found a great little sandwich truck: Auto-Banh Vietnamese sandwiches. We liked the crispy chicken with pickled okra, honey and cilantro!

On the way back to the hostel, we visited a venerable church. Soren also had his first solo swing ride! Yipee!
We went back to the hostel for a quiet afternoon reading 'To Kill a Mockingbird' aloud while he wiggled around on the bed. After dark we decided to find a little falafel place we'd heard existed nearby. After some friendly instructions from hostel staff and a 15 minute walk through dark streets we came to the tiny corner grocery where a young Palestinian man and his friend made falafels from scratch. Philip chatted about Palestine with the guy while college students came in to buy cigarettes and beer. The falafels were great. We walked back to the hostel, Soren fell asleep, and Philip and I enjoyed a quiet supper and long conversation in the dimly lit kitchen off of our room.
